Kosala Buddhist Center is located at 711 West Rosemary Street Suite E Carrboro, North Carolina, 27510. Open to everyone, the Center offers meditation classes, a variety of introductory and in-depth courses, chanted prayers and retreats. Classes take place in our beautiful meditation room and are suitable for all individuals whatever their level of interest, from those who seek simple relaxation to those who wish to find lasting inner peace and contentment through following the Buddhist path.
Our Center was founded by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso as a non-profit organization and member of the New Kadampa Tradition-International Kadampa Buddhist Union. It offers meditation classes and retreats throughout the Chapel Hill-Raleigh-Durham, NC area for all levels of experience.

How long have you been in business?
We have offered classes in the Chapel Hill area for about nine years, and have been at our present location for about five years.
What is your primary product or service?
We offer meditation instruction, classes in Buddhism from the Kadampa tradition, as well as free meditations and services for those who wish to practice. A fully ordained monk teaches classes on Wednesday and Thursday nights and some day courses throughout the year. Other classes and services are run by senior students.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I became interested because I found the classes and teachings and meditation personally inspiring.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
We are grounded and disciplined students and practitioners of the Kadampa Buddhist tradition. This is a pure lineage teaching made accessible for westerners. We are affiliated with the "New Kadampa Tradition" and have sister centers around the country and world, with wonderful Buddhist festivals where practitioners gather and learn together. A very special and nurturing community.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
Just one in Chapel Hill/Carrboro. There is a similar center in Charlotte NC, Vajradhara Center.

see our website at www.meditationinchapelhill.org for a full listing. There is a free intro to Meditation on Tuesdays at 7, a General Program class on Wednesdays at 7pm, Foundation Program classes on Thursday morning and evening, and a regular free Puja service Sundays at 10am.
